Andrew Williams (he/him) is an incoming Assistant Professor of Climate Science at Columbia University, starting in July 2027. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Prior to this, he was a research fellow at Princeton University and NOAA's Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory. He received his undergraduate and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Oxford.  [CV]

He is generally interested in problems related to tropical convection, large-scale atmosphere-ocean circulation, climate sensitivity, and the hydrological cycle, which he tackles using theory and a hierarchy of numerical models. When not doing research, he enjoys running and hanging out with his cat, Cleo.
